The AI hardware trade has been a one-way bet on Nvidia. Any credible threat to its software lock-in forces a repricing of the AI infrastructure stack. In crypto, this matters because AI-themed tokens (FET, RNDR, TAO, etc.) have been correlated to Nvidia's narrative; a credible challenger could bifurcate the trade—bullish for decentralized compute aggregators that thrive on heterogeneous hardware, bearish for tokens that are effectively proxy Nvidia bets.

Amazon announced a new developer tool called TorchNeuron aimed at reducing Nvidia's dominance in PyTorch-based AI development by enabling more developers to run AI applications on alternative chips, including Amazon's own.

Amazon's TorchNeuron Takes Aim at Nvidia's Grip on PyTorch

TorchNeuron doesn't just break Nvidia's moat—it breaks the CUDA lock-in that quietly subsidizes cloud GPU rents, and that rent compression will squeeze the cash flow that crypto miners have been using to upgrade to AI hosting.
