UK Gilts Rally as Investors Bet on Chancellor Healey's Fiscal Discipline

The UK fiscal narrative is a microcosm of the post-2022 G7 dynamic: markets are hypersensitive to fiscal credibility because sovereign bond supply is enormous and buyers are selective. A disciplined UK budget would reinforce the 'fiscal consolidation is back' theme across DM, which is broadly supportive of risk assets by compressing term premia — but it also removes a source of macro volatility that crypto has been trading as a beta proxy. With BTC dominance elevated and altcoins underperforming, any risk-on impulse is more likely to flow into BTC and ETH first, not into the long tail.

Some large investors are betting that UK Chancellor John Healey will maintain fiscal discipline in his first budget, which could trigger a gilts rally.
