Anthropic has rolled out Claude Tag inside Slack, giving teams a way to run data analytics without leaving the chat app. The tool is built for self-service use, meaning people can query data directly rather than waiting on a dedicated analyst. It comes with dynamic skills for forecasting, cohort analysis, and pulling in surrounding context.
What Claude Tag Does
Claude Tag sits within Slack as a taggable assistant. Users can mention it in a channel or thread and ask questions about their data. The system processes the request and returns results in the conversation flow. That removes the need to switch to a separate BI tool or spreadsheet.
The self-service angle is the key part. Instead of filing a request with a data team, employees can get answers on their own. Anthropic is positioning this as a way to make analytics more accessible to people who aren't data specialists.
Forecasting, Cohorts, and Context
The dynamic skills are the core of the deployment. Forecasting lets users project future numbers based on historical data. Cohort analysis groups users or events by shared characteristics to spot patterns over time. Context integration means the tool can pull in relevant background information—like prior conversations, project notes, or other data sources—to make the answer more useful.
These skills aren't static. They adapt to the question being asked, which is why Anthropic calls them dynamic. A user might ask for a sales forecast, then follow up with a cohort breakdown, and the tool adjusts accordingly.
Inside the Slack Workflow
Slack is already where many teams spend their workday. By embedding Claude Tag there, Anthropic is betting that analytics should live where the conversation happens. Users don't have to learn a new interface or remember a separate login. They just tag Claude in a message.
The deployment also suggests a shift toward conversational data analysis. Rather than building dashboards and waiting for someone to interpret them, teams can ask questions in plain language and get answers in real time. That could change how decisions get made in day-to-day work.
Anthropic hasn't said which customers are using Claude Tag first or how widely it's available. The rollout is live, but the company hasn't detailed pricing or a broader release timeline. For now, the tool is a concrete step toward making data analytics a natural part of team communication.
