Anthropic's Claude Platform Goes Live on AWS With Full Developer Access

Anthropic has made its Claude platform available on Amazon Web Services, giving developers full access to the AI model along with integrated AWS billing and services. The rollout means teams can now build with Claude directly inside their existing AWS environment, without juggling separate accounts or payment systems.

What the integration includes

Developers on AWS get the complete Claude feature set, not a stripped-down version. The platform handles billing through the customer's existing AWS account, so there's no need to set up a separate Anthropic payment method. Usage also plugs into other AWS services, though the company hasn't detailed exactly which services are supported out of the gate.

For now, the offering is available to any AWS customer with access to the Claude platform. Anthropic hasn't announced a phased rollout or regional restrictions.

Having Claude inside AWS removes a common friction point for companies already invested in the cloud provider's ecosystem. Instead of managing a second set of API keys and invoices, engineering teams can treat Claude like another AWS service — spinning up access, monitoring costs through AWS Cost Explorer, and attaching it to Lambda functions or other compute resources.

The move also puts Claude in front of a huge pool of potential users. AWS commands a large share of the cloud market, and many enterprises have procurement policies that favor vendors already listed on the AWS Marketplace. Anthropic's direct integration simplifies those internal approvals.

What's still unclear

Anthropic hasn't said whether usage on AWS will be priced differently than using Claude through its own API endpoint. The company also hasn't confirmed if the AWS version includes any exclusive features or if it's identical to the public offering. Developers will have to test the integration themselves to see if latency and throughput match what they're used to.

The next milestone worth watching is whether Anthropic extends the same integration to other cloud providers or deepens the AWS partnership with additional tools like SageMaker or Bedrock. For now, the option is live — and it's one fewer hurdle for teams looking to build with Claude.
