Bright Machines has introduced the Hybrid BRC, a new system designed to streamline the assembly of AI servers. The company says the platform aims to cut costs and reduce delays in manufacturing, which have become major bottlenecks as demand for AI infrastructure surges.

What the Hybrid BRC does

The Hybrid BRC combines automated robotics with human oversight. Instead of a fully automated line, the system lets workers step in for tasks that require dexterity or judgment. That mix is meant to keep production flexible while still speeding up repetitive steps.

Bright Machines says the approach can lower the cost of building AI servers and shorten the time it takes to get them out the door. The company didn't release specific performance numbers or pricing.

AI server demand has exploded over the past year. Cloud providers and large enterprises are racing to install the hardware needed to run large language models and other compute-heavy workloads. But the supply chain for these servers has struggled to keep up. Components are scarce, and assembly is still largely manual in many factories.

By blending automation with human adaptability, Bright Machines hopes to ease those bottlenecks. The Hybrid BRC is designed to handle high-mix, low-volume production—exactly the kind that dominates the AI server market today.

Balancing machines and people

Full automation can be brittle when product designs change often, as they do in AI hardware. A purely manual line, on the other hand, is slow and error-prone. Bright Machines' system lets operators step in where needed, while robots handle repetitive tasks like screwing, gluing, and testing.

The company says this hybrid model reduces rework and scrap, two major cost drivers in server manufacturing. It also allows factories to retool faster when a new server design comes along.

Bright Machines didn't name any customers for the Hybrid BRC yet. The system is being shown to potential buyers now, with first deployments expected later this year.

Whether the approach will catch on depends on how quickly manufacturers can adopt it. The AI server boom shows no signs of slowing, but companies are cautious about investing in new equipment while the technology itself keeps evolving.
