Character.ai, the platform where users create and chat with AI-powered characters, has rolled out a new package of tools aimed at the people building those digital personas. The Creator Bundle, announced Monday, includes a Creator Guide, an Insights dashboard, and public Leaderboards — all designed to help creators grow their audience and deepen engagement.
What's in the Bundle
The three components target different parts of the creator workflow. The Creator Guide acts as a step-by-step resource, walking builders through best practices for character design, dialogue tuning, and community interaction. It’s meant to lower the barrier for newcomers who might feel overwhelmed by the platform’s possibilities.
Insights is the analytics piece. It gives creators data on how their characters are performing — think message counts, user retention, and trending topics. Before now, most of that information was largely invisible unless a creator manually tracked comments or user feedback. The dashboard pulls it into one place, letting builders see what’s working and what isn’t.
Leaderboards add a competitive layer. They rank characters by metrics like popularity, conversation volume, or user ratings. For creators who thrive on visibility, a top spot could mean a flood of new users. The leaderboards update regularly, so the race stays fresh.
Character.ai has grown fast since its launch, attracting millions of users who build everything from fictional role-play partners to historical figure chatbots. But the creators — the people behind those characters — have had limited tools to measure their impact. The bundle changes that. It gives them concrete numbers and a clear path to improve.
The move also signals that Character.ai sees its creators as a core part of the business. By offering these tools free (at least for now), the company is investing in the ecosystem. A creator who can track growth is more likely to keep building, which keeps the platform lively and attracts new users.
Some creators have already called for more advanced features, like A/B testing for character responses or revenue-sharing options. The bundle doesn't include those yet. But the Insights dashboard could lay the groundwork — once creators have data, they'll want to act on it.
Platform Growth and Competition
The launch comes as AI chat platforms scramble to differentiate. Rivals like Replika and newcomer Spicychat are also trying to lock in creators with better tools and monetization potential. Character.ai's bundle is a direct play for that same audience. The Leaderboards, in particular, create a visible incentive — a way for top creators to get recognition beyond just word of mouth.
The company hasn't said whether it plans to expand the bundle with paid tiers or ad revenue sharing. For now, the focus is on getting more creators to use the tools and give feedback. The next iteration will likely depend on what the data shows.
Creators can access the Creator Bundle starting today from their account dashboard. The company says more updates are coming later this year.
