Lead: Google's Gemini app is rolling out new AI-powered features designed specifically for small businesses, the company has announced. The update integrates directly with Google Business Profile, offering owners tailored insights and tools to streamline daily workflows.
AI integration with Business Profile
The new capabilities tap into Gemini's language models to analyze a business's Google presence—reviews, Q&A, popular times, and customer messages—and generate actionable suggestions. A coffee shop owner, for example, could receive a prompt to update hours during holidays or a recommendation to respond to a cluster of recent reviews. The system aims to reduce the manual effort of monitoring and managing a business listing.
Streamlining routine tasks
Beyond profile management, Gemini can assist with common small business tasks like drafting replies to customer inquiries, creating social media posts, or summarizing weekly performance data. The app presents these as conversational prompts rather than dashboards, aiming to lower the barrier for owners who aren't tech-savvy. Google says the features are rolling out to Gemini users in English-speaking markets first, with more languages planned.
The move is part of a broader push by Google to make its AI tools more useful for non-enterprise users. Small businesses often lack dedicated marketing or IT staff, making them a target for automation that promises to save time without added complexity.
For now, the features are available within the Gemini app on mobile and web. Small business owners can test them by linking their Google Business Profile account.
