IPMX is an open standard designed to ensure interoperability between different brands' AV-over-IP equipment. The certification tests products for compliance with the standard, covering areas like video transport, audio, and control. The 48 certified products span a range of gear, including encoders, decoders, and switchers.
The manufacturers involved
The 11 manufacturers that have products certified include some of the biggest names in professional AV. Their participation shows broad industry support for the standard. Each company submitted multiple products for testing, and all passed the certification requirements.
AV-over-IP has grown rapidly, but a lack of common standards has sometimes made it hard to mix equipment from different vendors. IPMX aims to solve that. With a certification program in place, integrators and end users can buy gear knowing it will work together. The launch gives the standard real weight in the market.
The certification is now open for additional products. More manufacturers are expected to submit their gear for testing in the coming months.
