Lanterns Finale Reveals Kerry Kane Killed Hal Jordan, Noah Macon Is a Manhunter

Sheriff Kerry Kane shot Hal Jordan dead, and Noah Macon is a Manhunter who sprang Sinestro from prison. Those two reveals landed in the Season 1 finale of Lanterns, closing out the show's central mystery about what happened to Hal and who Noah really is. The finale confirms Kerry pulled the trigger herself; John Stewart had been operating on the assumption that Hal's own meddling got him killed.

Kerry Kane pulled the trigger

Hal confronted Kerry about Noah and told her to get away from him before he could carry out his plan. That confrontation is what led to the shooting. Hal had learned Noah's true nature earlier in the season — when Noah pulled him out of a burning house, Hal realized he wasn't human. Rather than take that to Kerry, Hal agreed to keep her in the dark about what he knew. So the man best positioned to warn the sheriff about the Manhunter in her life chose to sit on it, and when he finally did speak up, it was too late.

Noah Macon's origin, explained

Noah isn't a person who was turned into something else. He was built. Zoe Macon used Manhunter technology and a sample of Kerry's body to create him. The finale doesn't soften that: the sheriff's son is a construct made from her own DNA, which gives the shooting a weight the earlier episodes were circling. Meanwhile, Noah's other job this season was getting Sinestro out of prison. The finale confirms he did it — and the reason is worse than a simple jailbreak. Sinestro was forging a lantern with yellow streaks specifically for Noah.

What Hal knew, and when

The timeline matters here. Hal clocked Noah during the house fire rescue. He chose silence. He went through Noah's portal. Then, when he finally moved, it was directly at Kerry — not at Noah, not at Sinestro, not at the Manhunter operation. He went to the sheriff and told her to get clear. He didn't get to finish the sentence. That's the version the finale settles on, and it undercuts John Stewart's working theory that Hal's own interference is what got him killed. John was half right about the meddling. He was wrong about who fired.

The Sinestro problem

Sinestro is out, and he's already producing hardware for Noah. A yellow-streaked lantern isn't a prop — it's a weapon built to order for a Manhunter who has spent the season embedded in a lawman's family. Season 1 ends with the breakout accomplished, the killer identified, and the actual threat still walking around. Nothing in the finale suggests Noah's plan is finished; if anything, getting Hal out of the way was a step in it.

Season 2 hasn't been dated. The open question the finale leaves is the one Kerry Kane answered with a bullet: what does she do now that she knows what she's been living with?
