What the moon phase actually tells us
The moon cycles through eight phases over roughly 29.5 days, according to NASA. That's the time it takes for the moon to orbit Earth and return to the same phase. The eight phases are new moon, waxing crescent, first quarter, waxing gibbous, full moon, waning gibbous, third quarter, and waning crescent. The waning gibbous phase comes after the full moon, when the illuminated portion shrinks. NASA's guide tracks this daily. It's astronomy, not finance.
📊 Market Data Snapshot
No causal link to prices
There's no mechanism by which the moon's phase moves Bitcoin or any other asset. Any correlation traders claim is spurious, and academic work has debunked lunar-cycle theories. The market is currently in a slightly bullish state, with BTC around $77,600 and a market cap of $1.56 trillion. The Fear & Greed index sits at 62, in Greed territory. None of that has anything to do with the moon. High BTC dominance suggests altcoins may underperform, but that's a market structure issue, not a lunar one.
