OneRail has launched OmniSTAR, an AI-driven logistics platform built in partnership with Nvidia, the company announced this week. The platform is designed to overhaul last-mile delivery for retailers and distributors, using AI to tighten efficiency and reliability across the final stretch of the supply chain.
What OmniSTAR does
OmniSTAR sits on top of OneRail's existing delivery network, which connects shippers with a pool of couriers. The new layer applies machine learning to route planning, order matching, and real-time exception handling. The goal, per the announcement, is to cut down on the guesswork that plagues last-mile operations — where a missed window or a bad route can cost a retailer both money and a customer.
Nvidia's role is the hardware and software backbone. The platform leans on Nvidia's AI computing stack to process the kind of data that flows through a delivery network: traffic patterns, package volumes, courier availability, and historical performance. That's a lot of variables to juggle, and the partnership gives OneRail access to Nvidia's specialized AI infrastructure without building it from scratch.
Why last-mile matters now
Retailers have spent the past few years wrestling with delivery costs and customer expectations. Same-day and next-day windows are no longer a luxury, and the margin for error is thin. OneRail's pitch is that OmniSTAR can make those operations more predictable — fewer late drops, better asset utilization, and less manual intervention when something goes sideways.
The timing is notable. Logistics tech has been consolidating, and AI is the new battleground. OneRail isn't the only company chasing this, but the Nvidia tie-up gives it a credible claim to serious compute power. Whether that translates into real-world gains for retailers will depend on how well the platform handles the messy, unpredictable reality of city streets.
OneRail hasn't said which retailers are first in line for OmniSTAR, or when the platform rolls out beyond initial pilots. The company is expected to share more details on deployment timelines and early customer results in the coming months. For now, the launch signals that OneRail is betting its future on AI — and on Nvidia's chips doing the heavy lifting.
