OpenAI has rolled out GPT-Live, a feature that lets users check flight statuses, pull up stock prices, and hold a conversation — all in one session. The tool processes these requests in real time, without forcing the user to switch between separate prompts or modes.
What GPT-Live does
GPT-Live can answer a question about a flight delay, then immediately fetch the latest price for a stock, and continue a casual chat without losing context. The company says the multitasking and real-time capabilities could make AI assistants more useful for everyday tasks. Users no longer need to start a new thread for each type of query.
Real-time data access
Unlike earlier versions that relied on static knowledge, GPT-Live pulls live information from external sources. That means a user can ask for the current temperature in Tokyo, then check if their flight is on time, and get a stock quote — all within the same conversation. The system keeps track of the context across these different requests.
Multitasking in action
The feature handles multiple tasks at once. For example, a user could be discussing a travel plan, ask for a stock update, and then return to the travel conversation without repeating themselves.
