Samsung Rolls Out ChatGPT Enterprise and Codex Globally

Samsung Electronics has begun deploying OpenAI’s ChatGPT Enterprise and Codex across its global operations, the company confirmed. The rollout brings the AI tools to employees in offices and subsidiaries worldwide, though Samsung has not disclosed the number of users or specific departments involved.

What the tools offer

ChatGPT Enterprise is a business-tier version of OpenAI’s conversational AI, offering features like unlimited GPT-4 access, data encryption, single sign-on, and an admin analytics dashboard. OpenAI has said the enterprise version does not use company data for training. Codex, another OpenAI product, is an AI model that generates code from natural language descriptions. It supports Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, and other languages, and is designed to help developers write and debug code faster.

Global deployment

The deployment covers Samsung’s offices across Asia, Europe, the Americas, and other regions. The company did not provide a timeline for the rollout or specify whether the tools will be used internally only or integrated into its products and services. Samsung has previously invested in AI for its consumer devices and the Bixby assistant, but this move marks a broader internal adoption of third-party enterprise AI platforms.

Samsung joins a growing list of large corporations that have licensed OpenAI’s enterprise products for internal productivity and development. The company has not disclosed the financial terms of its agreement with OpenAI.
