Bitget's CFD daily trading volume has climbed to $8 billion, the exchange said Monday — less than two months after it crossed the $6 billion mark in March. The surge comes as gold prices topped $5,000 per ounce in early 2026, with XAUUSD accounting for roughly 95% of the incremental volume during the period.
Gold's pull and the geography of demand
Investment demand for gold jumped 84% year-on-year in 2025, hitting a record. That momentum carried into this year. Bitget's data shows China contributed 42% of the incremental CFD volume, followed by Europe at 27% and Southeast Asia at 16%. Together those three regions made up 85% of the growth.
The exchange's CEO, Gracy Chen, said gold has become a reference point during market uncertainty. “Trading is becoming more continuous and connected,” she added.
How Bitget's CFD offering works
Bitget lets users trade contracts tied to commodities, forex, and indices while keeping margin in USDT. That means traders can go long or short on gold without holding physical metal or a separate fiat account — a setup that's grown popular as volatility draws more retail and professional traders in.
The platform serves over 125 million users and claims access to more than 2 million crypto tokens, plus 100+ tokenized stocks, ETFs, commodities, FX, and precious metals. Bitget says it leads the tokenized TradFi market, pointing to the industry's lowest fees and highest liquidity across 150 regions.
Partnerships and reach
Bitget has sponsorship deals with LALIGA and MotoGP, and a partnership with UNICEF to support blockchain education for 1.1 million people by 2027. Those tie-ups help push the brand beyond the usual crypto audience — a play that seems to be paying off as CFD volumes grow.
The timing isn't accidental. With gold breaking $5,000 and traditional markets jittery, a product that lets you trade CFDs against crypto collateral looks increasingly convenient. Whether that growth is sustainable depends on how long gold's rally lasts — and whether competitors can match Bitget's fee structure.
