SBI Global Asset Management and DigiFT are launching a tokenized version of a Japanese high-dividend equity strategy on the Solana blockchain. The token, named $JX, is designed to give international investors a more direct route into Japan's equity market while helping them diversify portfolios. The move is the latest in a growing push to bring real-world assets on-chain, this time targeting one of Asia's most established stock markets.
The $JX Token and Its Backing
The $JX token represents a strategy focused on Japanese companies that pay high dividends. It is issued on Solana, a blockchain known for its low transaction costs and high throughput. SBI Global Asset Management, a subsidiary of Japan's SBI Holdings, brings the asset management expertise, while DigiFT provides the tokenization infrastructure. The token is live as of this week.
Why Solana?
The choice of Solana over other blockchains is notable. Solana's speed and low fees make it practical for frequent trading and smaller investments — a key consideration when targeting global retail and institutional investors. The network has been a popular venue for tokenized assets, though it has also faced reliability questions in the past. SBI and DigiFT did not comment on why they picked Solana specifically.
What This Means for Japanese Equities
Japan's equity market has long been a draw for yield-seeking investors, but accessing it directly can involve currency conversion, brokerage hurdles, and minimum investment thresholds. A tokenized strategy on a public blockchain removes some of those barriers. The initiative is expected to boost interest in Japan's equity market, particularly among investors who prefer crypto-native infrastructure.
Tokenization of traditional assets — from bonds to real estate to equities — has been a persistent theme in crypto over the past year. SBI Holdings has been an active player in the space, with previous tokenization projects in Japan. DigiFT, a Singapore-based platform, focuses on regulated digital asset offerings. This partnership marries a traditional asset manager with a blockchain issuer, a model that is becoming more common as institutions look for ways to offer familiar products in new wrappers.
The $JX token is now available. No further details on listing venues or minimum investment amounts have been disclosed.
