WEEX this week rolled out WEEX TradFi, a USDT-margined service that lets crypto traders buy and sell exposure to gold, silver, crude oil, tokenized stocks, and global indices. The move gives users a way to bet on traditional markets without leaving their crypto exchange — no separate brokerage account or bank deposit needed.
What the service offers
WEEX TradFi is essentially a derivatives wrapper for traditional assets. Users can trade both crypto and traditional markets from one account, around the clock, even when traditional exchanges are closed. The contracts track price movements but don't confer ownership — no shares, dividends, or voting rights. It's a bet on direction, not ownership.
The service is pitched at crypto-native traders who want to diversify into macro themes like inflation, interest rates, energy, and equity performance. The timing makes sense: crypto markets have been volatile, and traders often look for hedges in commodities and indices.
Promotions and rewards
To kick things off, WEEX is running a few promotional campaigns. There's a zero-fee trading window, plus a trading challenge with multiple reward tiers. New users get a $5 USDT welcome bonus for their first qualifying trade. Deposit and trade, and you can earn up to $200 USDT. Push your trading volume to $100,000, and you're eligible for up to $63 USDT in trial funds.
The rewards are modest but real. The challenge structure is straightforward: trade more, earn more, up to those caps.
Regional limitations
WEEX TradFi isn't available everywhere. The exchange says users must confirm local eligibility before trading. That's standard for any product that touches regulated markets — tokenized stocks and indices can get tricky across jurisdictions. WEEX didn't specify which regions are restricted, but the usual suspects (US, China, maybe others) are likely off-limits.
For now, the service is live. Users can start trading immediately if their region is cleared. The zero-fee window and challenge are running, but WEEX hasn't said when they'll end.
