Bitcoin ETFs Absorb $1B in Three Days, Leading $1.3B Crypto ETP Inflow Week

Bitcoin accounted for 77.4% of the $1.297 billion that flowed into US-listed crypto exchange-traded products from Aug. 17 through Aug. 19. Bitcoin ETFs alone took in $1.004 billion, while Ethereum products added $289.1 million and Solana products just $4.1 million.

The three-day tally

Bitcoin's daily inflows were $297.5 million, $189.3 million and $517.2 million across the three sessions, averaging $334.7 million per day. That's about 4.1 times the historical daily average of $81 million. Ethereum's daily figures came to $30.9 million, $71.4 million and $186.8 million, averaging $96.4 million per day — 4.3 times its historical average of $22.6 million.

Solana's take was thinner: $0 on Aug. 17, then $1.6 million and $2.5 million, averaging $1.4 million per day. That's only about a quarter of its $5.6 million historical daily average.

BlackRock leads the pack

BlackRock's IBIT was the biggest single driver, contributing $588.5 million to the Bitcoin inflow total. Fidelity's FBTC added $198.2 million, and ARK 21Shares' ARKB supplied $111.6 million. On the Ethereum side, BlackRock's iShares Ethereum Trust (ETHA) led with $212.7 million in inflows over the three sessions.

Solana's mixed showing

Solana products didn't move in lockstep. Bitwise's Solana Staking ETF (BSOL) pulled in $7.2 million, but that was partly offset by a $3.1 million outflow from the Grayscale Solana Trust ETF on Aug. 19. Net Solana inflows came to just $4.1 million.

Beyond the flow tables

The figures come from Farside's flow tables, which track different numbers of products and don't provide aggregate category assets under management. They may not capture the entire US crypto ETP universe. Morgan Stanley launched its Ethereum Trust and Solana Trust on July 28, but neither product currently appears in the corresponding tables, so those flows aren't included.

The three-day burst marks a notable acceleration from typical weekly activity. The next full week of data will show whether the surge was a one-off or the start of a longer trend.
