Bitcoin.com Adds UAE-Regulated USDU Stablecoin to Wallet

Bitcoin.com has partnered with Universal Digital Intl Limited to integrate USDU, the first USD stablecoin registered by the Central Bank of the UAE, into its wallet. The move puts the stablecoin in front of millions of existing users, giving them a new option for dollar-pegged transactions.

A first for the UAE

USDU is the first stablecoin to receive registration from the CBUAE. That puts it in a unique spot in the region. Universal Digital Intl Limited is the issuer, and the registration means the stablecoin operates under a clear regulatory framework.

What users get

Bitcoin.com wallet users will be able to hold and transact in USDU directly. The integration is designed to expand the stablecoin's distribution, and for Bitcoin.com, it adds a regulated dollar-backed asset to its lineup. The partnership is a straightforward distribution deal, not an acquisition.

This is a notable step for stablecoin adoption in the Middle East. A central bank registration gives USDU a compliance angle that many other stablecoins lack. For users, it means a stablecoin that's been vetted by a major regulator. The timing also lines up with broader interest in regulated digital assets.

Bitcoin.com hasn't said when the integration will be fully live, but the partnership is already in motion. Expect more details on rollout in the coming weeks.
