Bitfinex Securities has listed tokenized notes tied to the equity of Strategy and Metaplanet, giving eligible non-US investors a new way to hold exposure to the two companies. The notes are issued through Luxembourg's ORO II fund and will trade against dollars, USDT, and Bitcoin on the platform.
What the notes are
The instruments are equity-backed tokenized notes, meaning each note represents a claim tied to the underlying shares of Strategy or Metaplanet. By wrapping them through ORO II, a Luxembourg fund structure, the issuer can offer the product to a broader set of investors while keeping the notes tradeable on a crypto exchange.
This is not a direct tokenization of the shares themselves. It's a structured product that tracks the equity, and it settles in the usual crypto pairs — dollars, USDT, or Bitcoin — depending on what the buyer wants to use.
Who can buy them
The notes are restricted to eligible non-US investors. That carve-out matters because US securities rules would likely treat these as regulated offerings, and the issuer has chosen to sidestep that complexity for now. Bitfinex Securities has not said whether US buyers will get access later.
For non-US investors, the appeal is straightforward: they can get equity-linked exposure to Strategy and Metaplanet without leaving the crypto ecosystem or opening a traditional brokerage account.
Strategy has become a bellwether for corporate Bitcoin adoption, and Metaplanet has drawn attention for similar treasury moves. Tokenized notes tied to their stock give crypto-native traders a way to bet on those companies without holding the shares directly.
The listing also shows how exchanges are pushing beyond spot crypto into structured products. Bitfinex Securities has been building out its tokenized asset pipeline, and this is one of the more visible listings to come out of that effort.
The timing isn't accidental. With equity markets and crypto trading increasingly intertwined, products that bridge the two are getting more attention from issuers looking for yield and volume.
Trading is now live on the platform. The next thing to watch is whether the notes attract real liquidity, and whether other issuers follow with similar equity-backed structures.
