BitMine has boosted its Ethereum holdings to 5.79 million after a fresh purchase of 9,946 ETH worth approximately $19.4 million. The company also repurchased 6.1 million shares under its existing $4 billion buyback program, signaling a dual strategy of accumulating digital assets while returning capital to shareholders.
Ether accumulation continues
The latest acquisition brings BitMine's total ETH stash to 5.79 million tokens. The company spent about $19.4 million on the 9,946 Ether, adding to a position that has grown steadily over recent quarters. BitMine did not disclose the average price paid for the latest batch, but the purchase comes as Ethereum trades near $1,950.
Share buyback program
Separately, BitMine said it has repurchased 6.1 million shares under its previously announced $4 billion buyback program. The buyback is part of a broader effort to manage its capital structure and reward shareholders. The company has not said how much of the $4 billion authorization remains.
What the moves mean
Both actions reflect BitMine's focus on balancing its crypto treasury strategy with shareholder returns. The company, which mines Bitcoin and holds a large Ether position, has been one of the more active publicly traded firms in the digital asset space. Its ETH holdings now represent a significant portion of its balance sheet.
The share repurchase and Ether purchase were announced in separate filings. BitMine has not provided a timeline for further buybacks or additional crypto acquisitions.
