BNB Chain, CoinMarketCap, Trust Wallet Launch $36K 'AI Trading Agent' Hackathon

BNB Chain, CoinMarketCap, and Trust Wallet kicked off a $36,000 hackathon on June 3 called 'BNB HACK: AI Trading Agent Edition.' The three-week competition runs through June 21, 2026, with winners decided the following week. It's the latest push by the three Binance-linked platforms to draw developers into building on-chain AI agents that actually trade — not just talk about it.

Two tracks, two kinds of agents

The hackathon splits into Autonomous Trading Agents and Strategy Skills. The first track is for fully self-directed bots that execute trades on their own. The second is for more modular strategies that can slot into existing systems. Either way, teams must use CoinMarketCap for data and signals, Trust Wallet for self-custody execution, and BNB Chain as the on-chain venue. Projects that use all three score highest.

The tool stack gets a boost

CoinMarketCap's CMC Agent Hub gives agents pre-computed signals and analyst-grade insights formatted for LLMs. It includes twelve professional data tools accessible via MCP endpoint, a keyless pay-per-request system called x402, CLI, and IDE integrations. That's a lot of firepower for a short sprint. Trust Wallet handles the wallet side, and BNB Chain handles settlement.

Prizes and extras

The $36,000 prize pool covers nine main placements plus three sponsor special prizes. Winners can also pick up API credits, Claude API compute, mentorship, consideration for BNB Chain's Kickstart program, and a Trust Wallet Developer Portal listing. CoinMarketCap, for context, clocks over 1 billion monthly page views and tracks 38 million cryptocurrencies — so exposure isn't a problem.

Who can join and how

The hackathon is open to solo builders and teams — anyone 18 or older. Registration is live on DoraHacks, with full rules on the CMC Agent Hub page. Each submission must use at least one sponsor capability; using all three gives the best shot at the judges. With three weeks on the clock, there's still time to enter — but not much. Judging starts the week of June 22.
