Circle Sets September 16 for Arc Mainnet Launch, Names BlackRock, Visa as Validators

Circle has locked in September 16, 2026, for the public mainnet debut of Arc, its institutional blockchain platform. The company announced the date alongside a founding validator cohort that includes BlackRock, DTCC, Galaxy, Global Payments, ICE, Mastercard, MoneyGram, SBI Group, Standard Chartered, Sumitomo Corporation, and Visa.

Validator lineup spans finance and payments

The validator group reads like a who's who of traditional finance and payments infrastructure. BlackRock, the world's largest asset manager, is expected to deploy its BUIDL token on Arc. DTCC, the post-trade clearing giant, will work with Circle to enable tokenization of US Treasuries and other assets starting in the second half of 2027. Mastercard, Visa, and MoneyGram bring payments reach; ICE, Galaxy, and Standard Chartered add trading and custody depth. SBI Group and Sumitomo Corporation represent Asian financial heavyweights.

Arc is already running in a private mainnet with more than 100 ecosystem and institutional builders. The August 5 announcement formalized both the mainnet date and the validator lineup, which had been rumored for months.

Arc's development timeline

The platform's testnet went live in October 2025. By May 2026, reports surfaced of an ARC token whitepaper and a presale. Circle has not detailed the token's role in the mainnet launch, but the presale suggests a native asset will be part of the network's economics.

Circle's move positions Arc as a direct competitor to other institutional blockchains, but the company is leaning on its existing stablecoin infrastructure — USDC — to bridge traditional finance and on-chain markets. The validator list, heavy on regulated entities, signals an emphasis on compliance and institutional trust.

With the mainnet date set, developers and institutions now have a clear target. The ARC token presale and whitepaper are expected to provide more details on staking, governance, and network fees. Circle has not yet announced a public testnet for the token or a timeline for the DTCC tokenization partnership beyond the 2027 start.

September 16 will be the first real test of whether a stablecoin issuer can launch a blockchain that traditional finance giants actually use — not just endorse.
