CoinGecko has released a connector that brings live cryptocurrency data into Claude, Anthropic's AI assistant. The tool allows users to query prices, market caps, and other metrics directly within conversations, eliminating the need to switch between tabs or manually look up figures.
How the connector works
The connector taps into CoinGecko's existing API infrastructure, feeding real-time and historical crypto data into Claude's interface. Users can ask for the current price of Bitcoin, the top gainers over the past 24 hours, or the market cap of a specific token, and Claude will pull the information from CoinGecko's database. The integration is designed to work within Claude's chat environment, making it a natural extension for users already relying on the assistant for research or analysis.
For crypto traders, analysts, and enthusiasts, having live data accessible inside an AI assistant can speed up decision-making. Instead of toggling between a price tracker and a chat window, users can ask for updates in the same place they're discussing strategy or writing reports. The move also signals a growing trend of AI platforms integrating specialized data sources — a shift that could make assistants more useful for niche, data-heavy fields like cryptocurrency.
The connector is available now. CoinGecko has not disclosed whether it plans to extend the integration to other AI platforms, but the launch gives Claude users a direct line to one of the most widely used crypto data aggregators.
