Ethereum Staking Ratio Hits Record 34% as Market Confidence Grows

Ethereum's staking ratio has climbed to a record 34%, the highest level since the network transitioned to proof-of-stake. The milestone, recorded this week, signals that holders are increasingly locking up their ETH to earn yield rather than trading it — a vote of confidence in the network's long-term prospects.

Staking hits new high

The 34% figure means more than a third of all circulating Ether is now committed to validators, earning roughly 3-4% annualized rewards. The steady rise in the staking ratio reflects a broader shift in sentiment: after the Dencun upgrade and the continued growth of layer-2 activity, many investors see staking as a low-risk way to stay exposed to ETH's upside while generating passive income.

It's not the first time staking has broken records this year. But the pace has accelerated in recent months, with the ratio jumping from 30% to 34% since April. That's a lot of ETH being taken off exchanges and out of short-term trading circulation.

The $10,000 bet

Still, the market isn't pricing in a moonshot. According to the leading prediction market, the probability of Ethereum reaching $10,000 by December 31, 2026 stands at just 1.9%. That's up slightly from the 1.5% level seen in early June, but still far from the double-digit odds that would signal a serious rally.

What's driving the disconnect? Staking may be a bullish sign for the network's health, but it doesn't directly push prices higher. The locked ETH reduces circulating supply, yet demand for blockspace and the broader macro environment remain the real price drivers. With risk assets still digesting interest rate uncertainty and regulatory headwinds, the market is keeping its expectations modest.

The next big milestone for Ethereum is the Pectra upgrade, tentatively scheduled for the first quarter of 2027. Validators are watching for any changes to staking parameters that could affect yields or unlock schedules. For now, the staking ratio keeps climbing, and the prediction market keeps its $10,000 odds pinned at a slim 1.9%.
