Grayscale XRP Trust Sold $180.78M in XRP During First Half of 2026

Grayscale XRP Trust Sold $180.78M in XRP During First Half of 2026

Grayscale's XRP Trust ETF unloaded $180.78 million worth of XRP in the first six months of 2026, slashing its token stash by more than half as redemptions overwhelmed new inflows. The trust's holdings dropped from 122.23 million XRP at the end of 2025 to just 55.04 million by June 30, according to a filing.

Holdings cut by 55%

The trust sold 103.41 million tokens during the period. Net assets fell from $223.36 million to $57.41 million. Inflows of 36.27 million XRP — worth about $66.58 million — weren't enough to offset the outflow. Outstanding shares tumbled from 6.30 million to 2.84 million, with 5.33 million shares bought back and 1.87 million sold.

Losses pile up

Grayscale recorded a realized loss of $34.16 million on XRP sold to meet redemptions. Another $17.47 million in unrealized losses sat on the remaining holdings. An additional $39,000 loss came from selling XRP to cover operating expenses.

CEO sells personal stake

CEO Peter Mintzberg sold part of his personal stake in the trust earlier in 2026. The filing didn't specify how many shares he unloaded or the proceeds.

XRP price under pressure

XRP traded at $1.06 at the time of writing, down 1.35% over the past 24 hours. The trust's next filing will show whether the selling continued into the second half of the year.
