Kraken's parent company, Payward, has joined Anthropic's Project Glasswing, a partnership that gives the crypto firm access to the Claude Mythos AI model for security work. The company plans to use the model to identify and address vulnerabilities across its crypto platforms.
Project Glasswing
Project Glasswing is Anthropic's initiative to bring its AI models into security-sensitive industries. Payward is the first crypto-native firm to join, though Anthropic has been courting financial infrastructure companies for months.
The arrangement is not a typical vendor deal. Payward gets direct access to Claude Mythos, a model Anthropic has positioned for defensive security tasks, and the two companies will work together on how the model is applied to crypto infrastructure.
Why Claude Mythos
Claude Mythos is built for code analysis and threat detection. For an exchange that holds customer funds and operates around the clock, the appeal is obvious: automated scanning for weak points before someone with bad intentions finds them.
Kraken has long marketed itself as security-first, and the exchange has been through its share of incidents over the years. Tapping an AI model to help close gaps fits that reputation, but it also signals something broader — exchanges are starting to treat AI as a standard piece of their defense toolkit, not an experiment.
What changes for Kraken users
For everyday Kraken customers, the partnership shouldn't change anything visible. No new login flows, no extra verification steps. The work is meant to happen behind the scenes, catching flaws in code and infrastructure before they can be exploited.
The security work will span Payward's platforms, not just the Kraken exchange itself. That includes the company's other crypto services, though Payward hasn't specified which ones get priority.
The partnership is ongoing, with no public deadline for when the AI-assisted security reviews will be fully integrated. Payward said the collaboration is already underway, and the two teams are working on how to fold Claude Mythos into existing security workflows.
