Users of MOACT, the loyalty app run by a subsidiary of Kansai Electric Power, can now convert their points into JPYC stablecoin on the Polygon network. The feature went live on July 30, as announced by wallet developer HashPort in a press release.
What MOACT offers
MOACT is a loyalty program that rewards users with points for various activities. Those points have typically been redeemable for goods or services within the app's ecosystem. Now, with the new integration, users have a different option: they can turn those points into JPYC, a yen-pegged stablecoin that lives on the Polygon blockchain.
JPYC and Polygon
JPYC is a stablecoin designed to maintain a 1:1 value with the Japanese yen. It runs on Polygon, a layer-2 scaling network for Ethereum that offers faster and cheaper transactions. By moving loyalty points onto Polygon as JPYC, MOACT users gain the ability to hold a digital asset that mirrors fiat currency and can potentially be used across other platforms that accept JPYC.
How the conversion works
HashPort, the wallet developer behind the integration, said the conversion is handled directly within the MOACT app. Users select the amount of points they want to convert, and the system issues the equivalent JPYC to their Polygon wallet. The process is designed to be straightforward, though HashPort did not disclose specific fees or minimum conversion amounts.
What this means for users
For MOACT users, the new feature adds flexibility. Instead of being locked into the app's own redemption catalog, they can now hold a stablecoin that can be transferred, traded, or spent elsewhere — provided the recipient accepts JPYC. It also introduces a bridge between traditional loyalty programs and the crypto ecosystem, a move that could appeal to users already familiar with digital assets.
The integration is live as of July 30. MOACT users with a Polygon wallet can start converting points immediately. Whether other loyalty programs follow suit remains an open question, but for now, MOACT is the one offering the option.
