Morgan Stanley to Launch Ethereum and Solana ETPs for Institutional Investors

Morgan Stanley is rolling out exchange-traded products for Ethereum and Solana, giving institutional investors a regulated on-ramp to two of the largest crypto assets. The launch, confirmed this week, marks the latest push by a traditional finance giant into digital assets — and it comes at a time when the market is watching whether big money will actually stay put.

Ethereum and Solana ETPs on deck

The new products will track the spot prices of Ether and Solana, respectively, and will be available through Morgan Stanley's wealth management platform. The bank hasn't disclosed the exact fee structure or tickers yet, but the ETPs are expected to trade on a major U.S. exchange. This isn't Morgan Stanley's first crypto rodeo — it already offers Bitcoin exposure via similar products — but adding Ethereum and Solana broadens the menu for advisors and their clients.

Demand shift: from launches to inflows

Institutional interest in crypto has evolved. Early this year, the buzz was all about new product approvals. Now the conversation has moved to whether those products can attract and hold capital. Morgan Stanley's timing suggests the bank sees enough sustained demand to justify expanding its lineup. The shift matters because it signals that large allocators aren't just dabbling — they're building positions they plan to keep.

Regulated access expands

For years, institutions that wanted crypto exposure had to navigate unregulated exchanges or over-the-counter desks. ETPs change that. They offer familiar structures, custody, and regulatory oversight. Morgan Stanley's move puts Ethereum and Solana on the same footing as Bitcoin in its product suite, which could pressure other wirehouses to follow suit. The bank hasn't said when the ETPs will officially list, but sources close to the process expect a launch before the end of the third quarter.
