Ondo Finance Founder Nathan Allman Dies at 32; Ian De Bode Named CEO

Nathan Allman, the 32-year-old founder of tokenized-asset platform Ondo Finance, has died unexpectedly. The company did not disclose the cause of death. President Ian De Bode immediately takes over as CEO.

A sudden loss for the firm

Allman founded Ondo in 2021 after working on the digital assets team at Goldman Sachs. Under his leadership, the company brought roughly $3.86 billion in tokenized real-world assets — treasuries, equities, and commodities — on-chain, with more than 111,000 holders. The news of his death was confirmed by the company but no further details about the circumstances were provided.

De Bode steps into the top role

Ian De Bode joined Ondo as chief strategy officer in March 2024 after leading digital assets work at McKinsey. He was promoted to President in November 2025. According to the company, De Bode has been running Ondo's strategy, product, and day-to-day operations for more than two years with the full confidence of the leadership team. The transition to CEO is effective immediately.

What the company does now

Ondo Finance focuses on putting traditional financial instruments onto blockchain rails. Allman's vision attracted a significant user base and billions in assets. With De Bode already deeply involved in daily management, the firm is expected to continue its existing roadmap without immediate disruption. No timeline for a public memorial or additional leadership changes has been announced.
