Ondo Finance Launches Ondo Network, Its Own Execution Layer for RWAs

Ondo Finance has launched the Ondo Network, an execution layer the firm describes as the evolution of its vision for Ondo Chain. The first version of the network is now live.

Ondo Chain was originally planned as a blockchain purpose-built for real-world assets. The new Ondo Network takes that concept and runs with it — but as an execution layer rather than a standalone chain. That means it handles transaction processing and smart contract execution without necessarily running its own consensus or validator set.

From chain to network

The shift from Ondo Chain to Ondo Network is more than a name change. Ondo originally pitched a dedicated blockchain for RWAs. The Ondo Network is a lighter-weight execution layer that can plug into existing infrastructure. It's a pragmatic move — building and maintaining a full blockchain is expensive and slow. An execution layer lets Ondo move faster and focus on the application layer.

Ondo Finance first announced Ondo Chain as a blockchain for tokenizing real-world assets like Treasuries and credit. The new network keeps that focus but changes the architecture. Instead of a new L1, Ondo is building an execution environment that can run on top of existing chains or as a standalone system.

What's live now

The first version of the Ondo Network is operational. Ondo hasn't published a block explorer or developer docs yet, but the network is processing transactions. The company says this is the first step in a longer roadmap. Users and partners can start interacting with the network, though details on how to access it are limited. The launch gives Ondo its own infrastructure for issuing and managing tokenized assets, reducing reliance on third-party blockchains.

Ondo hasn't said when the next version will arrive or what features it will add. The big question is whether the network will eventually support third-party applications or remain a closed system for Ondo's own products. For now, the network is live and the team is building. The RWA space will be watching to see if this execution layer gains traction.
