Paris FC has signed winger Luca Koleosho from Burnley on a long-term deal, the club confirmed Wednesday. The 21-year-old, who came through Burnley's academy and made 12 Premier League appearances last season, joins a Ligue 2 side that has increasingly leaned into crypto-backed football as a differentiator.
A growing trend in football finance
Koleosho's move is the latest signal that blockchain-linked ownership and fan engagement models are taking hold in the sport. Paris FC, majority-owned by a consortium that includes the crypto exchange Binance, has positioned itself as a test case for how digital assets can fund transfers and reward supporters. The club's fan token, launched in 2023, gives holders voting rights on minor club decisions and access to exclusive experiences.
This isn't just a Paris story. Across Europe, clubs from Serie B to the English Championship have struck sponsorship or ownership deals with crypto firms. The model remains controversial — regulators in several countries have warned about volatility and investor risk — but the flow of capital hasn't slowed.
What Koleosho brings
The winger, who also holds Italian and Nigerian nationality, was seen as one of Burnley's brighter young prospects. He made his Premier League debut in 2024 and earned a call-up to the Italy U21 squad. For Paris FC, which sits mid-table in Ligue 2, adding a player with top-flight experience is a statement of intent. The club has ambitions to reach Ligue 1, and the Koleosho signing fits a pattern of buying young, sellable assets.
Financial terms were not disclosed, but the deal is described as a long-term commitment. Burnley reportedly included a sell-on clause.
Koleosho is expected to join his new teammates for preseason training next week. Paris FC opens its Ligue 2 campaign on August 8 against Amiens. For the crypto-football experiment, the real test will come on the pitch — and in the ledger.
