Peter Brandt Calls Stellar a 'Long-Shot Bet' as XLM Jumps 11%

Veteran trader Peter Brandt flagged Stellar (XLM) as a speculative "long-shot bet" worth watching over the next few years, telling his 1.3 million followers on X on September 28 that the call rests on chart signals, not fundamentals. The comment landed while XLM was climbing — up roughly 11% in the prior 24 hours and about 28% over the past month.

Brandt didn't make a firm prediction. He paired the XLM remark with a chart analysis, framing the trade as speculative and contingent on continued adoption and broader market conditions.

Price is the only thing that matters

Brandt was blunt about his approach. "I do not need to understand an asset to trade it," he wrote. "Price is the only thing that matters to me."

That's a familiar posture for the longtime chartist, and it means his XLM comment shouldn't be read as an endorsement of Stellar's technology or business. He's watching the chart.

A network quietly landing institutional deals

The timing isn't random. On September 22, Mastercard-owned BVNK integrated the Stellar network into its stablecoin payments platform, giving enterprise clients single-API access to Stellar's rails. The network's payment infrastructure covers more than 130 markets and handles cross-border payments, payouts, remittances and treasury transfers for large institutions.

Days later, Spectra Finance launched fixed-term markets for a tokenized Janus Henderson treasury product on Stellar, letting users trade principal and yield tokens separately. Both moves fit Stellar's long-running pitch: infrastructure for payments and tokenization, aimed increasingly at institutions rather than retail traders.

Chartists stacking up on the same side

Brandt isn't the only one posting XLM charts. Chartist Dark Defender published an updated XLM chart on September 28 pointing to further upside potential, building on an earlier mid-September analysis.

Two chartists posting bullish setups in the same week is worth noting, though neither has made a hard price call. XLM was trading near $0.2309 at the time of reporting, according to BeInCrypto data.

What would actually confirm the trade

Brandt's framing leaves the outcome open. A long-shot bet by definition isn't a sure thing, and he tied it to adoption and market conditions rather than any single catalyst.

The near-term test is whether the BVNK integration and the Spectra markets translate into measurable activity on Stellar's rails. Those are the kind of numbers that would give the chart setup something to stand on — and the kind of numbers that, so far, nobody has published.
