On-Balance Volume has been trending lower all year, and the Chaikin Money Flow slipped below -0.05 in July — a level that typically signals heavy selling pressure.
A 7% bounce, but volume tells a different story
The price jump happened mid-week, with Pi briefly reclaiming ground it had lost in the previous fortnight. Yet the rally came on relatively thin volume. On-Balance Volume, which tracks cumulative buying and selling pressure, has been in a steady downtrend since January. That means each recent up-move has attracted less conviction than the sell-offs that preceded it.
It's a classic divergence: price goes up, volume doesn't follow. For a token that's been under pressure for months, that pattern rarely ends well.
CMF confirms the bearish tilt
The Chaikin Money Flow fell below -0.05 in July and hasn't recovered. That threshold is a rough line in the sand — readings below it suggest money is flowing out of the asset rather than into it. The indicator has stayed negative even as Pi tried to bounce this week, which tells you the sellers aren't done.
CMF isn't a crystal ball, but when it stays negative through a price pop, it's a red flag. The bounce looks more like a dead cat than a reversal.

The key question is whether Pi can hold its recent gains. If the price slips back below the bounce level, the failed rally could accelerate selling. The OBV trendline is still pointing down, and the CMF hasn't turned positive. Without a catalyst — a listing, a protocol upgrade, something concrete — the path of least resistance remains lower.
