Rarible is expanding its NFT marketplace to the Solana blockchain, the company announced this week. The move brings royalty enforcement for creators to Solana, a feature that has been a sticking point for artists on other platforms. The Claynosaurz NFT collection will be the first to launch on Rarible's new Solana marketplace.
Why Solana now
Rarible, best known for its Ethereum-based marketplace, is betting on Solana's speed and low fees to attract a broader audience. The expansion comes as NFT trading volumes on Solana have climbed steadily this year, with collections like Claynosaurz drawing significant attention. Rarible's existing user base will be able to browse and trade Solana NFTs without leaving the platform.
Royalty enforcement
A key selling point is Rarible's commitment to enforcing creator royalties on Solana. Many Solana marketplaces have made royalties optional or dropped them entirely, drawing criticism from artists. Rarible says it will enforce royalties at the smart-contract level, meaning sellers can't bypass them. The company is using its own royalty-enforcement protocol, which it previously deployed on Ethereum.
Claynosaurz launch
The Claynosaurz collection, a popular Solana-native NFT project featuring dinosaur-themed digital art, will be the first to go live on Rarible's Solana marketplace. The collection has a strong community and has seen consistent secondary sales. Rarible says more Solana collections will be added in the coming weeks.
The Solana marketplace is live now. Rarible hasn't disclosed whether it plans to add other blockchains next, but the company has hinted at further multichain expansion.
