Ripple's RLUSD Sees Holder Growth but Transfer Volume Drops 25%

Ripple has launched a new institutional minting platform for its RLUSD stablecoin and added the token to Notabene's compliance network. The moves come as RLUSD's monthly transfer volume fell to $10.95 billion — a 25% drop — even as the number of holders increased.

New institutional minting platform

The platform lets institutions mint and redeem RLUSD directly, bypassing the need for intermediaries. Ripple says the service is designed for banks, payment providers, and other large-scale users who want to issue or burn the stablecoin on demand. The company did not disclose which institutions have signed up so far.

Compliance integration with Notabene

RLUSD has been added to Notabene's compliance network, a system that helps crypto firms meet anti-money laundering and travel rule requirements. The integration means transactions involving RLUSD can be screened and reported automatically. Notabene's network already covers dozens of other digital assets.

Holder growth vs. volume decline

While the number of RLUSD holders has grown, the stablecoin's monthly transfer volume shrank to $10.95 billion in the latest period — a 25% drop from the previous month. The decline suggests that existing holders are moving less value, or that new holders are smaller players. Ripple has not explained the divergence.

The company continues to push RLUSD into new markets and compliance frameworks. Whether the volume slide reverses will depend on how quickly institutions adopt the new minting platform and whether the stablecoin gains traction in cross-border payments.
