Strategy Bought 175,000 BTC in 2026, Sold Just 7,000, CEO Says

Strategy, the world's largest corporate Bitcoin accumulator, bought roughly 175,000 BTC in 2026, CEO Phong Le confirmed in a FOX Business interview. The firm sold only 7,000 BTC over the same stretch, making it a net buyer by a factor of 25. Le also said he plans to resume purchases before the year is out.

The 2026 buying spree

The purchases put Strategy far ahead of any other corporate holder. The company, formerly MicroStrategy, has long been the biggest corporate Bitcoin whale, and this year's activity cements that position. Le didn't give a precise timeline for the buys, but the total is substantial by any measure. A 175,000 BTC haul in roughly seven months is a lot of digital gold, even for a firm that's made accumulation its signature move.

Selling almost nothing

The 7,000 BTC sold is a fraction of the total. That works out to a net buy ratio of 25 to 1. It's a clear signal that Strategy sees Bitcoin as a long-term hold, not a trading asset. The company has historically been reluctant to sell, and this year's numbers reinforce that. When you're buying 25 times what you sell, you're not hedging; you're stacking.

Resuming purchases

Le said he plans to resume Bitcoin purchases before the end of the year. That suggests the buying isn't done. The company has gone through periods of accumulation and pause, but the pledge points to more activity ahead. When exactly the next purchase happens isn't clear, but the commitment is on the record. For a firm that's already the biggest corporate holder, the message is simple: more is coming.

The year isn't over, and Strategy's balance sheet could look different by December. For now, the numbers are out there: 175,000 bought, 7,000 sold, and a promise to keep going.
