Producers in Latin America back the tokens with actual megawatt-hours, meaning the digital asset has a real-world energy claim. When the corresponding electricity is consumed, the token is burned and removed from circulation. That burn mechanism creates a direct link between the token supply and the grid.
Growth on the XRP Ledger
JMWH's rapid expansion pushed the total represented asset value on the XRP Ledger to $3.57 billion — a 71.47% jump in the same 30-day window. Tokenized electricity now makes up the bulk of that value. The ledger's native token, XRP, gains transactional demand from each new account created to hold tokens like JMWH, since accounts require a minimum XRP reserve.
What Tokenized Electricity Means for the Network
Every account that holds JMWH requires a small XRP reserve, which locks up some supply and creates ongoing demand for the native coin. As more energy tokens are issued and held, the network sees increased activity. The fact that tokens are burned on consumption adds a deflationary element — removed tokens won't return to circulation. That dynamic could keep pressure on the total supply of JMWH, depending on how fast energy is used vs. newly issued tokens.
With only 19 holders so far, the tokenized electricity market on XRP Ledger is still tightly concentrated. But the 159% value surge suggests growing interest from institutions or energy firms looking to digitize physical power. Whether the holder base broadens will depend on adoption by more producers and traders outside the current Latin American focus.
