TRON processed more than $30 trillion in cumulative transaction volume in the third quarter, according to Tuesday's network report. The number lands two weeks after Canary Capital launched the Canary Staked TRX ETF (TRXS) on September 9, giving U.S. investors a way to hold TRX plus its staking rewards. TRON DAO's team marked the listing by ringing the Cboe Closing Bell in Chicago on September 29.
The two events tell slightly different stories about where the network stands right now.
Stablecoins are doing the heavy lifting
Stablecoin settlement on TRON hit $2.21 trillion in Q3. Average daily volume rose 3.9% from Q2 to $24.05 billion. USDT and USDD supply on the chain reached $93.88 billion, up 5.5% quarter over quarter. TRON still hosts the largest circulating supply of Tether's USDT, which alone sits above $94 billion.
That's the part of the business that keeps growing regardless of token prices. Institutional custody and staking, new trading venues, and digital dollar products arrived through Anchorage Digital, Bitnomial, Backpack, Ethena, and Ducat over the quarter. MoonPay introduced gasless transactions through Trust Wallet, so users no longer need to hold TRX to pay network fees. Bitcoin.com Wallet added native support for TRX and USDT-TRC20.
Average rolling monthly active addresses rose 9.8% to 18 million.
Fees are drifting down
Network fees totaled $701.4 million in Q3, averaging $7.62 million a day. That's down 4.0% from Q2. The average daily transaction fee slipped from $0.668 to $0.643.
It isn't a collapse. More activity, cheaper fees, and a lower total is the combination every high-throughput chain is chasing. It does mean revenue per transaction is thinning even as stablecoin flow sets records. Total value locked including staking hit $28.21 billion, with DeFi TVL at $13.05 billion. TRONSCAN puts the chain at more than 408 million user accounts, over 15 billion transactions, and north of $28 billion in TVL as of October.
The ETF arrives into a soft tape
TRXS gives holders exposure to the spot TRX price plus staking rewards, which is a cleaner pitch than a plain spot fund. But it's landing while the broader market is under pressure. TRX is down more than 4% over the week, recently trading around $0.317, and it's off roughly a fifth over the past month. Bitcoin's slide has dragged most of the market with it. The timing isn't great for a launch that needs steady inflows to build volume.
Where the developer push is going
The ecosystem work is mostly plumbing. Fireblocks Flow added support for payments from TRON wallets. MetaMask connectivity expanded across B.AI, SUN.io, JustLend DAO, and BitTorrent. Eco and STON.fi widened cross-chain stablecoin routes on TRON. KiiChain linked TRON assets into its 24/7 foreign-exchange and payment infrastructure. Privy opened up wallet, transaction, and policy management for developers building on the network. OpenZeppelin brought its smart contract libraries and security tooling over.
None of that moves price on its own. It matters because it drags TRON closer to the compliance and tooling stack that institutional desks already use.
Watch the next quarterly fee number. A second consecutive decline would put pressure on validators and make the staking yield inside TRXS the ETF's main selling point.
