The European Securities and Markets Authority has updated its Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) register for the fourth time since the regulatory framework took full effect. The latest revision adds 12 companies to the list of authorized crypto-asset service providers (CASPs), bringing the total to 321. At the same time, ESMA placed three entities on its non-compliant register.
What the update covers
This is the fourth post-deadline update to the MiCA register, which tracks firms that have notified national competent authorities of their intent to provide crypto services under the new rules. The register now lists 321 authorized CASPs across the European Union. ESMA also maintains a separate list of entities that are not compliant with MiCA requirements; three new names were added to that list in this update.
Why the non-compliant list matters
The non-compliant register is a public tool that flags firms operating without proper authorization or failing to meet MiCA standards. Investors and counterparties can check the list before engaging with a crypto service provider. ESMA updates both registers regularly as it processes notifications and enforcement actions from national regulators.
ESMA continues to receive and review notifications from crypto firms seeking authorization. The regulator has not announced a specific schedule for future updates, but the pattern of post-deadline revisions suggests more additions and removals are likely as the market adjusts to the new regime. National competent authorities remain responsible for supervising individual firms, while ESMA maintains the central register.
