Wells Fargo disclosed a combined $9.18 million position in the Bitwise XRP ETF in its latest 13F filing, submitted Aug. 14 and covering positions through June 30. The bank, which holds roughly $2.2 trillion in assets, reported the stake across two line items — a small but notable signal that traditional finance is still nibbling at XRP exposure.
What the filing shows
The 13F doesn't break down the exact number of shares, but the two line items total $9.18M. That's a rounding error for a bank that size, yet it's the kind of disclosure that gets noticed in a market where institutional XRP demand is still young. Separately, Citadel closed out its puts on the Canary XRP ETF while keeping call options — a positioning shift that suggests some traders are leaning bullish rather than hedging.
XRP's stubborn resistance
XRP traded near $1.00 on Monday, with an intraday range of $0.98 to $1.00. The weekly chart is down a few percentage points, and the coin has been stuck below the $1.03-$1.08 resistance zone. It tested $1.08 earlier, then pulled back. ETF holdings near 1 billion XRP could tighten available supply, but that hasn't been enough to push price through yet. A sustained move above $1.03 would give buyers a cleaner path toward $1.08. Lose $0.98, and August's lows come back into play.
Garlinghouse's Wyoming stop
Brad Garlinghouse is scheduled to appear at the Wyoming Blockchain Symposium from Aug. 17 to 20. The event is a regular gathering for crypto policy wonks, and the Ripple CEO's presence could bring fresh commentary on the regulatory landscape. No word yet on what he'll say.
LiquidChain's Layer 3 pitch
In a separate corner of the market, LiquidChain is running a presale at $0.01491 per token, with $940K raised so far. The project describes itself as a Layer 3 infrastructure that fuses Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana liquidity into a single execution environment. Its deploy-once architecture is meant to let developers reach three ecosystems without redundant deployments. Early days, but the pitch is aimed squarely at developers tired of multi-chain fragmentation.
The next concrete thing is the Wyoming symposium, where Garlinghouse speaks through Thursday. Whether he addresses the ETF filings or the recent price action is anyone's guess, but the timing gives XRP traders something to watch.
