Benfica have officially confirmed Marco Silva as the club's new manager, with the Portuguese coach signing a contract that runs for two years and includes an option for a third season.
The two-plus-one deal
The agreement, known as a 2+1 contract, gives Benfica the right to extend Silva's tenure by an additional year after the initial two-year term. No further details on terms were released.
Silva takes over at the Lisbon club immediately. The appointment ends a period without a permanent manager at the Estadio da Luz.
