Polymarket Bets on Le Pen Surge as Fox Poll Shows Democrats Regain Economic Trust Edge

Political betting markets and a new Fox News poll are sending contrasting signals about voter sentiment on both sides of the Atlantic. On Polymarket, odds for Marine Le Pen to win the 2027 French presidential election jumped to 30.9%, with more than $115.6 million wagered on the outcome. At the same time, a Fox News poll shows Democrats have reclaimed the lead over Republicans on trust to handle the economy — their strongest advantage since 2006 — driven largely by concerns over inflation and affordability.

A $115.6 Million Bet on the Far Right

Polymarket, a decentralized prediction platform, now gives Le Pen nearly a one-in-three chance of becoming France's next president. The total betting volume of $115.6 million on that specific market reflects heavy interest from traders who see the far-right leader as a serious contender. Le Pen has run twice before, losing to Emmanuel Macron in 2017 and 2022, but her party has steadily gained ground in the National Assembly. The 2027 election is still more than two years away, but the betting odds suggest investors are pricing in a real possibility of a Le Pen victory.

The platform's odds have fluctuated in recent months, but the current 30.9% mark is among the highest recorded for Le Pen. No other candidate has crossed the 20% threshold on Polymarket for the 2027 race. The surge comes amid broader political uncertainty in France, including pension protests and a fragmented opposition.

Inflation Drives Democratic Advantage

Across the Atlantic, the Fox News poll offers a different picture. Democrats now hold a 4-point edge over Republicans on which party is better equipped to manage the economy — the party's best showing in that measure since 2006. The shift is largely attributed to voter anxiety over rising prices. Affordability, the poll found, has become the top economic concern, eclipsing jobs or taxes.

For years, Republicans held a consistent advantage on economic trust, even as Democrats led on issues like healthcare and education. The new data suggests that inflation has eroded that GOP advantage. The poll was conducted among registered voters and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.

The results align with other recent surveys showing that economic pessimism is driving a broader realignment. But the Fox News poll is notable because it marks the first time in nearly two decades that Democrats have held such a clear lead on the economy in that particular survey.

Neither the Le Pen campaign nor the Democratic National Committee responded to requests for comment. The Polymarket odds and the Fox News poll both point to a volatile political environment where traditional assumptions about voter loyalty are being tested.
