Cloudflare lancia portafogli per agenti AI, punta ai pagamenti in stablecoin

Cloudflare has started offering digital wallets designed specifically for AI agents, the company announced. The move gives automated systems a way to hold and manage funds independently. A future update will add stablecoin payment capabilities, though no timeline has been set.

Wallets built for bots

The wallets are meant for AI agents that need to pay for services or receive payments without human intervention. Cloudflare's infrastructure already handles a large share of web traffic, and the company sees a growing need for machine-to-machine transactions. The wallets are integrated into Cloudflare's existing developer platform, so AI agents can use them alongside other tools like Workers and R2 storage.

Details on how the wallets work remain sparse. Cloudflare has not disclosed which blockchains or stablecoins it will support, nor whether the wallets are custodial or non-custodial. The company said only that the feature is live now for developers.

Stablecoins on the roadmap

Stablecoin payments are planned for a later release. Cloudflare did not specify which stablecoins or payment networks it will use. The addition would let AI agents transact in a price-stable digital currency, avoiding the volatility of cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin or Ether. That could make the wallets more practical for recurring payments, such as API fees or compute costs.

The announcement comes as more companies explore autonomous agents that handle tasks like data analysis, content moderation, and customer support. Those agents often need to pay for third-party services, but until now there was no standard way for them to hold and spend money. Cloudflare's wallets aim to fill that gap.

No other companies have announced similar products specifically for AI agents, though several offer general-purpose crypto wallets. Cloudflare's advantage may be its existing developer ecosystem and its reputation for security and reliability.

The company has not said when the stablecoin feature will arrive, or whether it will require regulatory approvals. Developers can start testing the wallets today through Cloudflare's dashboard.
