Breez has released a new app called Glow — part everyday Bitcoin wallet, part open-source developer toolkit. The company says Glow is designed to make Lightning transactions simpler for regular users while giving developers a working blueprint for building non-custodial Bitcoin features into their own apps.
What Glow does
Glow is a fully functional Lightning wallet that supports passkey login, Lightning addresses, and stablecoin transfers. But the real hook is the codebase. Breez released the entire app as open-source, meaning developers can view how each feature is implemented using the Breez SDK's API. They can fork the repo, rebrand it, and ship it as their own product without starting from scratch.
Because developers using the SDK never take custody of user funds, the regulatory footprint stays small. That's a deliberate design choice — Breez wants to remove the legal friction that often stops consumer apps from adding Bitcoin payments.
The Turnkey partnership
Glow builds on a partnership Breez announced earlier with Turnkey. Under that deal, developers can add non-custodial Bitcoin to apps running wallets from their own servers. Keys are kept out of reach of the app's servers, Breez, and Turnkey itself. The backend holds a credential that defines what actions are allowed, but the authority to move funds stays with the user.
That setup positions large consumer apps to add Bitcoin without rebuilding their backend or taking custody of user money. Glow shows exactly how that works in practice.
The app is available now. Developers can grab the code from Breez's repository and start forking. The question is whether any major consumer platforms will take Breez up on the offer — and how quickly they can ship a rebranded version to their own users.
