The Ethiopia-Tigray conflict is part of a broader pattern of regional instability across the Horn of Africa and Sahel, which has historically driven capital flight into stablecoins and BTC in affected economies. With BTC dominance high and the Fear & Greed Index at 73, the market is in a greedy phase that can absorb minor geopolitical shocks but remains vulnerable to a broader risk-off trigger.

A drone strike hit a Tigray TV station as rebels advanced in northern Ethiopia, with heavy clashes reported between government forces and the Tigray People's Liberation Front.

For crypto, this adds to a macro environment already dominated by extreme fear (F&G 11) and a bearish tilt, where geopolitical shocks often amplify risk-off moves before any safe-haven narrative reasserts itself.
