Revolut Hit by Outage Affecting Payments, Crypto, Sign-In and ATM Withdrawals

Bitcoin

This outage fits a pattern of increasing operational fragility in fintech-crypto hybrids as they scale, and it arrives during a risk-off crypto session (BTC -1.75%, ETH -2.22%, total market cap -3.27%). It reinforces the 'not your keys, not your coins' narrative and could modestly accelerate adoption of regulated self-custody and DeFi rails, but it is not a systemic crypto market event. It also comes as UK regulators scrutinize neobank operational resilience, potentially raising compliance costs for crypto-friendly fintechs.

Revolut experienced an outage affecting multiple services, with thousands of users reporting app issues and inability to make payments or access funds.
