The Spectrum-6 is an Ethernet switch designed to handle the high-bandwidth demands of AI factories, according to Nvidia. AI factories are large-scale data centers dedicated to training and running artificial intelligence models. The switch is part of Nvidia's Spectrum line of networking gear, which the company has been expanding as AI infrastructure grows.
Key partners on board
Tesla and Microsoft are among the first to adopt the Spectrum-6. Both companies run massive AI operations. Tesla operates its own AI supercomputer for autonomous driving development, and Microsoft runs Azure cloud services that host large language models and other AI workloads. Having these two as partners gives Nvidia a strong foothold in the AI networking market.
