Branta Guardrails Now Shows Verified Merchant Info on Manna Wallet Before Bitcoin Payments

Branta has integrated its Guardrails authentication system with Manna Wallet, giving Bitcoin users a way to see verified merchant details — logos and company info — before they hit send. The move tackles a problem that Manna Wallet CEO Adam Simecka says is holding back wider adoption: the anxiety of sending money to an unknown destination.

What the integration does

When a user scans a Bitcoin payment QR code in Manna Wallet, Branta Guardrails now displays the merchant's verified name and logo on the confirmation screen. That extra step lets the user confirm they're paying the right party before the transaction goes through. The system uses open-source, privacy-centric zero-knowledge proofs to authenticate the connection between client and merchant — without ever accessing the user's payment address or invoice details.

Branta says this approach reduces risks from human error and man-in-the-middle attacks. The verification happens through a side channel, so even if a QR code has been tampered with, the user sees the real merchant identity before approving the payment.

How merchants plug in

Merchants don't need a custom integration. Branta Guardrails works through existing Bitcoin invoicing platforms: it's available via a BTCpay Server plugin and through Zaprite's merchant tools. That means any shop already using those services can add the verification layer without rebuilding their checkout flow.

A live demo is running with Manna Wallet and the merchant Arkade. When users scan a compatible QR code, they see the Arkade logo and a verification link before the payment details appear.

The anxiety problem

Simecka called Bitcoin payment anxiety a key barrier to adoption. Users, he said, often have no way of knowing whether the address on their screen actually belongs to the business they're trying to pay. That uncertainty makes people hesitate — or stick with credit cards where the recipient is clearly labeled. Branta's integration doesn't eliminate all risk, but it gives users one more piece of information at the moment they need it most.

The system is live now. Manna Wallet users with the latest version can see it in action, and more merchants are expected to add support through the existing plugin infrastructure.
