Crypto Card Spending Hits $748.7M in July, Fifth Straight Monthly Gain

Crypto card spending volume reached $748.7 million in July, marking the fifth consecutive monthly increase, according to data from onchain analytics tracker Paymentscan. The figure represents a 19.1% jump from June's $628.7 million and a 144.7% surge from $306 million a year earlier.

Fifth straight monthly climb

July's $748.7 million extends a streak that began in March. Each month since then has set a new high for 2026, with July posting the largest nominal gain — up $120 million from June. The pace suggests crypto-linked debit and credit cards are gaining traction as a spending tool, not just a holding vehicle.

Year-over-year explosion

The year-ago comparison is stark. July 2025 saw $306 million in crypto card volume. The 144.7% increase over 12 months outpaces the growth of most traditional payment networks. While the absolute numbers remain small relative to Visa or Mastercard, the trajectory is drawing attention from payment processors and issuers.

Where the data comes from

Paymentscan, an onchain analytics tracker, compiled the figures by monitoring blockchain transactions tied to crypto card programs. The tracker aggregates spending across multiple card issuers and networks, though it does not break out individual providers. The methodology captures both prepaid and credit-style crypto cards that settle in fiat at point of sale.

The next monthly data point, for August, is expected in early September. Whether the streak continues will depend on consumer appetite and any shifts in crypto market conditions.
