Tokyo-Listed Eole Buys Hyperliquid Tokens as US HYPE ETFs Bleed $27M

Eole, a Tokyo-listed company, has become the first Japanese listed firm to hold Hyperliquid (HYPE), purchasing 1,078 tokens for 10.08 million yen at an average price of 9,352.776 yen per token. The company plans to make additional HYPE purchases through the end of August, totaling up to 100 million yen. The move is tied to Eole's Neo Crypto Bank plan, announced in October 2025, which aims to use AI and smart contracts for low-cost, high-speed settlement rails.

A contrast across the Pacific

While Eole is buying in, US-listed HYPE ETFs haven't recorded any inflows since July 15. Instead, they've seen seven outflow sessions and three flat trading days, with investors withdrawing roughly $27 million. The combined AUM of US HYPE ETFs fell from $370.8 million on July 6 to $252.38 million after those outflows. Large token holders have also been moving HYPE to exchanges: Multicoin Capital transferred 500,000 HYPE (worth about $27.4 million) to Coinbase Prime, and a wallet linked to Selini Capital moved 495,473 HYPE (worth about $26.8 million) to OKX. Combined, those two transactions involved 632,573 HYPE.

HYPE price under pressure

HYPE traded at $53.9 on Thursday, down 19.4% over the past 30 days — making it the worst-performing token among the top 20 cryptocurrencies in that period. It remains 29.8% below its June 16 all-time high of over $76, having surrendered gains from a brief July rally above $70. The selling from ETFs and large holders hasn't helped.

Eole's crypto banking ambitions

Eole's Neo Crypto Bank plan isn't just about holding tokens. The company wants to build a settlement system using AI and smart contracts that's cheaper and faster than traditional rails. Buying HYPE is a first step — the firm says it will keep accumulating through August. Whether that buying pressure can offset the outflows from US ETFs and the moves by Multicoin and Selini is an open question. Eole's buying window runs through the end of August, and the market will be watching.
